You would not be listening to my first CD without Fabio Morgera believing in me.
Thank you Fabio for producing, playing and encouraging me and Sergio Veschi of Red Records for believing in this project. You would not have enjoyed the music without Gregory Hutchinson, Tal Ronen and Roy Hargrove. I'm honored to have you as my band and I couldn't ask for more.
Thank you Hiro Sanada and Simone Giuliani for your expertise and sincere dedication to this project.
Many thanks to Joe Strasser, Neil Miner, Anat Cohen, Avishai Cohen, Saul Rubin, Yoshi Waki, Art Hirahara, Ze' Luis, Rudy Royston and Larry Clothier. Thank you Thadd, Theo, Noffar, David, Michali and Arale.
I would not be playing and singing in New York without the guidance of my teachers Amit Golan, Amos Hoffman, Eli Benacot, Jonathan Kreisberg, Ofer Ganor, Opher Brayer, Peter Bernstein, Rory Stuart, Sam Yahel, Shai Chen, Yair Rotem and Yossi Regev. Thank you for you inspiration and for showing me different parts of the way. I would not be lucky to be able to follow my dream if not for the endless support and love of my Mom & Dad, my sister and brother (Ben & Dana) and our Papa. I love you all deeply.
This album is dedicated to all of you my best friends, in Tel Aviv and New York. You are in my heart, wherever I go. Dandan, you really made it possible.
A note from the producer
I first met Dida through drummer Dan Aran one night outside Smalls Jazz Club in Manhattan. She kindly invited me to her gig at Lela Bar the next day and asked me to play a few tunes with her (and bassist Noriko Ueda). I was immediately struck by her guitar sound, good taste, swinging feel , blues feel , and the way she also sang while playing... Coming from a twenty-one year old Israeli female all this was clearly a sign of a great talent waiting to be discovered. I had no doubt she was at the beginning of a very promising career, so I called Sergio Veschi and told him about her, how about a debut album?
Then I introduced Dida to Gregory Hutchinson and later to Roy Hargrove, and they both shared my views, and to my pleasant surprise they accepted to be part of this project, together with bassist Tal Ronen, a favorite of Dida's and mine as well.
I would like to inform the listener that we have recorded Dida the same way she's used to perform , that is, singing and playing simultaneously , with minimal use of overdubs or current recording tricks whatsoever. This is a totally live sessions, and it swings hard! So thanks for listening , please enjoy the wonderfully talented: Dida!
